A fantastic shoot up at Pole Athletes in Chesterfield, run by the hyperactive and hyperawesome Miss Pole Dance UK Lorna Thomas!
An absolutely cracking weekend, I was blown away by the ballsy attitude of all the girls, clearly taking a leaf out of Lorna’s book when it comes to the Can-Do spirit!
My heart was in my mouth as I walked through the door….. Had no idea what to expect or if I could even follow my desire through…… Ta da !!!! Mission accomplished with a HUGE thank you to your wonderful relaxed personalities leading the way to your natural professionalism …
It wasn’t all roses, however, as the winter temperatures had not been kind to the superwide Colourama backdrop paper. Not only had it warped across the roll, but it had also picked up indentations from where it’d been stored laying across the roofing beams. Lesson Number 1 learned. Never store Colouramas on their sides.
When cross-lit, the small ripples in the paper turned into a fairly obnoxious “pillowing” effect, making the backdrop far too distracting. You could shoot at a wider aperture to try and blur it, but I wanted the dancers sharp and there wasn’t enough distance between them and the backdrop to pull that off. Time to mutter the fell words “I’ll fix it in post” and knuckle down to some fairly intensive Photoshop shenanigans…
Den & Doug, thank you so much for an AMAZING photo shoot. I’m still ‘buzzing’ from this confidence boosting experience. You were both incredibly patient, supportive & reviewed our photos in detail as we progressed through our shoot to ensure the best results possible, this helped us relax & concentrate on performing our pole dance moves. I cannot wait until our next pole photo shoot with you guys!
