March has me travelling back to Leicester for another pole photoshoot at Flight Fitness, and time to test out a new lighting setup there and see if it works!
I’ve shot at Flight a few times now, so I wasn’t too worried about taking a new setup there untested. Quickly learned my lesson there, but fortunately some over-packing of the car turned out to my advantage. See the one thing about old industrial units is beams. Lots of beams. And the thing with beams is they’re, well, not white. What this led to was a giant orange beam being present across the top and in the background of almost every shot.
Well, there would have been, however lucky for me in the big sack of material I use for covering up mirrors (That’s another story) I also have a large 3m x 6m white backdrop cloth for emergencies should a paper backdrop get destroyed or some such. 15 minutes with a staple gun and that beam is decked out like a spooky ghost, ready to be easily blitzed in post.
Setup issues solved, it was onwards and upwards for a frenetic two day shoot and some awesome images!
