After the successful group shoot at Flight Fitness in May I was invited back just a few weeks later to spend a day shooting just the instructors from the club, a way for the owner Lauren Red to say thanks for their hard work and dedication to the studio.
A crazy day which was awesome fun to shoot, with literally all the shoes in the Midlands making an appearance. Lyra hoop, Silks, Pole and the crazy, crazy custom-built Acro-Cube (Possibly not its real name!) came out to play and we got some awesome shots all round.
One thing I had thought going in, somewhat naively, was that shooting highly trained instructors would be easier and go more smoothly than shooting intermediate dancers. Oh boy. What I’d overlooked is of course that at this level not only are the moves more complex and much more demanding, but the personal attention to detail is extreme. I will never, ever let someone leave a shoot if they’re not 100% happy with the results, and instructors will always chase that last 2mm of toe point or leg extension – it might take more time, but the results are always worth it.
Really looking forward to working with them all again sooner rather than later!
